More than 1,100 Athletes Enjoyed the 10th Annual Spring Ahead Run
More than 1,100 area athletes spent Sunday morning, April 19, 2009, racing for charity in the 10th annual Spring Ahead Run. Calamos Investments was the presenting sponsor for the event, which was expected to raise about $40,000 for NCO programs and services.
"We were honored to once again partner with NCO, an organization that makes such a valuable contribution to our community," said John P. Calamos, Sr., Chairman, Co-CIO and CEO of Calamos Investments.
There were three races, including a 10K Trail Run, a 5K Street Run and a 5K Wheelchair race. In addition, there was a Kids' Fun One Mile Run.
"It was inspiring to see everyone united for such a great cause, despite the inclement weather conditions," said Josh Thompson a Calamos associate who also placed first in the men's 5K 25-29 age group.
All proceeds from the race went to support the programs and services of NCO Youth & Family Services. Ron Hume, executive director of NCO stated, "On behalf of our board, staff and most importantly, the people that we serve, we would like to extend our most heartfelt thank you to everyone at Calamos for making our Spring Ahead Run such an outstanding event, and their most generous sponsorship and involvement."
