International Sales Associate

The International Sales Associate will be a key member of the Calamos Investments global sales team functioning as an Hybrid Wholesaler. The duties include increasing phone coverage in  Europe and the Middle East to complement our UCITS and separate account sales activities and working closely with the International Division Director,  Regional Directors and certain External Wholesalers in a coordinated fashion.

Sales Activity Metrics

  • Meets sales goals as defined by Sales and Distribution Management, using activities such as phone contacts, phone time, email, conference calls and web casts.
  • Plans day and multi-tasks outbound calls, projects, campaigns and incoming calls.
  • Creates a pipeline of Secondary Managed Account and UCITS opportunities and shares with manager weekly.
  • Aligns calls with European and Middle Eastern activity and international business plan.

Product Knowledge

  • Learns, understands and is able to present all strategies and products.
  • Understands how Calamos products compare to our competition.
  • Keeps abreast of changes/updates on focus products, firms and platforms.

Territory Management

  • Responsible for enhancing and building upon relationships through effective proactive telephone calls and contact follow up.
  • Employs the use of third party databases such as Lipper Reuters (UK), Russell, CDA, and Morningstar Principia, to help provide sales solutions to advisors.
  • Consistently works to deepen existing relationships with financial advisors, divisional and regional representatives, and analysts to increase both our value added support to them and their sales to Calamos.
  • Uses all available lists for contacting advisors (Newman, Anniversary, Redemptions, One Fund Only, conference attendees, etc.)
  • Continually reaches out to advisors to cross-sell the strategies that they are not currently using.
  • Consistently asks for referrals or prospect off of top producer lists to find new advisor relationships.
  • Logs all contacts each day as they are made in the CRM system, including: voicemails, literature, presentations, conference calls, etc.
  • Actively maintains database for accurate and current information on advisors and branch networks.
  • Able to travel internationally as the business situation dictates.

Qualifications

  • Multi-lingual (French or German preferred) and have 5 to 7 years of work experience in the Financial Services industry, preferably having worked with institutional prospects and clients.
  • FINRA Series 7 and (63/65 or 66) required.
  • Must have the professionalism to perform heavy phone work daily and flexible to accommodate European hours of business.
  • Be adept at asking questions and creating profiles of our clients and prospects.
  • Be responsible for product knowledge (such as information contained in the prospectus) and all marketing materials that support the sales effort.
  • Participate in meetings, call review sessions and coaching sessions and be prepared to both receive and deliver constructive feedback.  The candidate may be asked to lead or coordinate meetings, call reviews or coaching sessions as well.
  • Responsible for positioning and differentiating our products against competitor firms and their products.
  • Perform any special tasks and complete any projects assigned by management.
  • Represent Calamos at conferences, seminars or off-site meetings.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • Well - organized, independent, entrepreneurial spirit and ability to prioritize in a fast past environment.
  • Outstanding, flexible team player with the ability to effectively work through multiple business channels.
